1,309 Kalinga trike drivers to be granted fuel assistance

Updated: Oct 13, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Following the extension of the submission of registered tricycle drivers for the fuel subsidy program, Kalinga listed a total of 1,309 tricycle driver-applicants qualified to receive aid from the national government.

The list, which underwent validation, was submitted by the local government units of Pinukpuk, Rizal and Tabuk City through the request of the Department of Interior and Local Government- Kalinga.

DILG Provincial Director Engr. Max Meyer Adong, through PIA Kalinga, said 1,242 of the beneficiaries are from Tabuk City, 62 from Rizal and five from Pinukpuk. These towns are where tricycle transport operates.

As prescribed by the guidelines, the cash subsidy will be given to beneficiaries through E-wallet and through Landbank of the Philippines (LBP).

As to how much will be received by beneficiaries, Adong said they are still waiting for the guidelines prescribing the amount to be given.

Last March, the government through the Department of Transportation-Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (DOTr-LTFRB) started the distribution of P6,500 fuel subsidies to over 377,000 qualified PUV drivers and operators nationwide.

Application for e-wallet accounts

The drivers applying for e-wallet accounts will be allowed 2 to 3 days to comply with the verification process set by their preferred service provider but are reminded to make sure that the e-wallet account is named after the intended beneficiary for COA (Commission on Audit) purposes.

If e-wallet account is unavailable, drivers are encouraged to receive their subsidy over the counter through the nearest accessible Landbank Branch in their municipality, not needing an LPB account.

If there is no Landbank Branch in the location of the tricycle driver-beneficiaries, Landbank will conduct an onsite pay-out distribution center, provided that they give their Driver's License Number and the address of the Landbank branch nearest to them.
