Mountain Cook-out, Cordillera's 'food travel' tour concludes in Tabuk City

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Department of Tourism – Cordillera concluded its Mountain Cook-out and Tour Concept Development in the Abra-Kalinga circuit on Friday, June 24 at the Kalinga TRAAK Ranch.

The activity was in partnership with the Provincial Tourism Office of Kalinga in the tourism agency’s pursuit of establishing a culinary heritage tour circuit in the region.

The mountain cookout enabled collaboration between a travelling chef and a local chef to produce traditional dishes

DOT-CAR Regional Director Jovita Ganongan said the tour envisioned to connect the culinary heritage and other adventure experiences in destinations throughout Cordillera region.

The activity highlights the chefs’ creative innovation, local produce and ingredients such as the heirloom rice, sweet potatoes, root crops, purple yam, and other local produce and ingredients were put into emphasis.

Through the culinary expertise exchange, both the visiting chef and the local chef explored mountain culinary heritage, new product developments for domestic and international market, and other adventurous experience.

“The objective is to come up with regular tour offers highlighting mountain cookout experiences for selling in travel fairs both in the domestic and the international market,” the regional director said in a statement.
