Tabuk City, Kalinga – From May 2021 to December 2023, a total of 1,327,450 individuals in the Cordillera Region have completed the registration process for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), according to the latest report published by the Philippine Statistics Authority - Cordillera on Wednesday, January 24.

This data represents 73.8 percent of the total population of the region based on the 2020 census, which reported 1,797,660 residents.

Benguet registered the highest number of registrants with 617,158, followed by Abra with 188,568; Kalinga with 171,263; Ifugao with 144,358; Mt. Province with 109,197; and Apayao with 96,906.

Despite recent developments in the registration process, the agency continues to encourage individuals who have not yet registered to do so.

The agency emphasized that appointments are no longer needed in the registration process. However, the public should take note of bringing along supporting documents required for the registration.

For information on where to register, the public can click this link: http://tinyurl.com/yd4f7k6k, and for documents needed in registering, they may check it out at: http://tinyurl.com/yvk5cxcp.

To recall, the registration for the national ID is mandated by Republic Act 11055, or the PhilSys Act, with the aim of establishing a single national ID for Filipinos and resident aliens.

The national ID is essential for simplifying transactions, whether in public and private offices, enrollment in schools, or the opening of bank accounts.

Availing government services would also see improved efficiency as the national ID becomes the sole document needed in the transaction.
