14 farmer orgs in Tinglayan receive P5.7M livelihood assistance

Tinglayan, Kalinga – A total of 14 farmer organizations received P5,724,175 livelihood assistance in Tinglayan as a result of the initiative of the municipal government unit under the administration of Mayor Atty. Sacrament Gumilab.


Mayor Gumilab, with his intent to help the community, previously requested financial help for livelihood from the Office of Senator Bong Go and the Office of the President and was later granted through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Municipal Information Officer Larae Lactao said that the livelihood assistance was first provided to the eight organizations on November 24, 2021.


Another four groups received their aid on February 15, 2022, while the remaining organization also received their assistance this March.


Grantees include the Ilu-ong Manab-abhujug Sustainable Livelihood Program Association, Ihuthut Pumanpanchay SLPA, Luplupa Ugpun Nan Manfofoser, and Ngibat Manwhowhoser SLPA, for their blacksmith livelihood.

Also assisted are the Barangay Ambato-Legleg Indigenous Irrigators Association (BALI-GIA), Umunnoy Ad Man-Afer SLPA, and Tulgao West Inchasan Organization, which were engaged in rice mill operation.


Meanwhile, Buscalan Christian Association, Manchara Ifangad SLPA, and Puong Farmers Association engaged in grocery operation were also among the beneficiaries, including the Mamapacod SLPA (Winery Production), Bugnay Farmer's Development and Livelihood Association (Egg Production), Amung Nan Umuu-ung (Mushroom Production) and Poblacion Beekeeper SLPA (Beekeeping).

Each organization received funding in accordance with their proposed livelihood projects.

Funds were provided as seed capital and cash building for livelihood assets, depending on their need.


Project Development Officers are also conducting on-site visitations to ensure the proper implementation of the projects.

Trainings on micro-enterprise development, constitution and by-laws, and association regulations were likewise provided.


Tinglayan LGU, meanwhile, is coordinating with the national agencies for the upgrade of skills, organizational development, finance management, and business management of the organizations.
