Cagayan, Philippines – An Additional 32 cases of the more transmissible Covid-19 Delta Variant have been recorded in Cagayan Valley on Sunday, August 29, according to the Department of Health Region 2.

Samples, according to the regional health department, were tested on August 25 and 26, 2021.

Of the total cases, 15 cases are from Isabela, of which 14 are local transmission and one is a returning Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW). 10 cases were also recorded in Cagayan province, five cases in Nueva Vizcaya, and two from Quirino, which are all local transmissions.

Two have died while the rest already recovered. Contact tracing is still underway through the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) Special Action Team (SAT).

On August 12, the region logged 16 cases of Delta variant.

The health Department, meantime, is now urging the public to help the government in curbing Covid-19 cases in the region by abiding with the minimum public health standards and submitting themselves for vaccination.

As of this writing, the region has now a total of 7,647 active Covid-19 cases.
