Ilagan, Isabela - Over the weekend, a woman died after she was accidentally hit by a tricycle while crossing the pedestrian lane in Barangay Naguilian Sur, Ilagan, Isabela.

Police identified the casualty as Arianne Alexis Maluyo, 40, a resident of Barangay Bliss Ilagan, while the driver of the tricycle was identified as Jomar Cudal, 45.

Cudal had two passengers when the incident transpired. They were Erika Camungao, 24, and a 2-year-old baby.

Investigation revealed that Cudal was rushing the 2-year-old to the hospital on Sunday, September 22, because it was having a high fever and had been vomiting non-stop.

Since he was focused on rushing the patient to the hospital, Cudal did not notice Maluyo crossing the pedestrian lane and accidentally hit the victim.

As a result, Maluyo sustained severe injuries, resulting in her untimely death.

Meanwhile, one of the occupants of the tricycle, Camungao, suffered minor injuries but is now in stable condition, while Cudal and the 2-year-old baby were not injured.

Cudal will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property if the matter will not be settled amicably.
