Apayao PDRRMO joins OCD-CAR for on-site validation of P210M proposed major projects

Luna, Apayao- The Provincial Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office, led by PDRRM officer Jeofrey Borromeo, has provided assistance to the Regional Project Validation and Evaluation Team (RPVET) for the on-site validation of the major rehabilitation and recovery projects proposal amounting to P210,000,000 million.


The projects were proposed following the adverse damage left by Super Typhoon Egay and Tropical Storm Falcon in Apayao last year.

The assessment from September 2-6, 2024 is crucial prior to the projects approval from the Office of the National Defense.


To recall, In July 25,2023 Super Typhoon Egay, trailed by the Tropical storm Falcon, was intensified by the southwest monsoon, struck Apayao and brought massive volume of rain in the province resulting in severe damages and losses affecting mostly road networks, waterways, irrigations, pathways, and private and public infrastructure assets.

With these, the proposal of the ten (9) priority projects, to provide safety and security to all yApayaos were crafted and submitted for approval.


On February 25,2024 Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., following after the first on-site inspection, endorsed to the Office of Civil Defense- Cordillera led by Regional Director Albert A. Mogol the proposed projects with their proposed budget enumerated as follows:

1) Rehabilitation of San Juan -Consuelo FMR in Santa Marcela (P15,000,000);

2) Dagupan -Salvacion-San Mariano -San Jose-Lydia-Dona Loreta-Capannikian provincial road in Pudtol (P26,000,000);

3) Laco-Kumao-Baliwanan-Langnao-Ferdinand provincial road in Kabugao (P20,000,000);

4) Madduang-Dagara-Maragat-Abra-Boundary provincial road in Kabugao (P15,000,000);

5) Poblacion -Guisi-Luttuacan provincial road in Kabugao (P15,000,000);

6) Sabangan Malungog Don Roque Ablan Sr. provincial road in Calan (P15,000,000);

7) Eva-Marag-Zumigui provincial road in Luna (P15,000,000);

8) San Carlos -Bacut-Bagutong-Poblacion Flora provincial road in Flora (P49,000,000); and,

9) Buluan-Mawigue-Allangigan-Caglayan provincial road in Conner (P15,000,000).


One of the PDRRMO staff said the office has already provided and complied with the necessary documents, but the validation is needed in the process before the proposals get approved.


Governor Bulut Jr. said the approval of the major projects will not only safeguard his constituents but will also develop among them a secured sense of belonging.
