Tabuk City, Kalinga―With the continuous increase in energy demand in the province, the Kalinga Electric Cooperative (KAELCO) is putting up a new electrical substation to ensure the continuous power supply for the member-consumer-owners.

KAELCO OIC Manager Engr. Tito Lingan ,in an interview, disclosed that their office is currently on the process of constructing and commissioning a new substation for the electric cooperative to upgrade its energy capacity.

“The existing substation that we have right now ay medyo mataas na yung load so one major plan or project of our electric cooperative is to upgrade our substation into a higher capacity,” he said.

“It was already awarded to the contractor, of course it takes months for us to commission that substation considering na mayroon pa tayong hinihintay na certification for us to start. So, probably 8 months to 1 year, meantime, konting tiis- tiis muna until such time we will be able to put up the new substation,” he added.

Considering the high load of electrical energy on the existing substation, the new substation will eventually provide a higher level of service for the member-consumer-owners.

Lingan then appealed for the cooperation of the consumers to minimize their usage of heavy load appliances especially this summer season, since this would greatly help in preventing power overloading which usually result to power interruptions.

“If possible, refrain from switching on their heavy-load-appliances which they think they can help in reducing the overloading of our system. So, sana makisama kayo, tulungan niyo ang KAELCO para naman ang ating system ay hindi magkaroon ng malaking problema until such time that our (new electrical substation) project will be put up,” he said.
