Kalinga PLGU intensifies herd immunity campaign, mobilizes various agencies, sectors

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Provincial Government of Kalinga has strengthened its campaign to attain herd immunity in the province through an Executive Order issued by Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban declaring December 13 to 17, 2021 as vaccination days.


The declaration aims to hasten the attainment of herd immunity with the inoculation of at least 70 percent of the population.


Kalinga province, as of this writing, has a vaccination rate of 51 percent based on records of the Provincial Health Office (PHO).


The order of the Governor is in pursuant to the Roll-out Strategy Proposal for the National COVID-19 Vaccination Day, and the PHO adopted the "Bayanihan, Bakunahan and targets to vaccinate those under the ages 12 to 17 years old and the rest of the adult population.

Additionally, Governor Tubban, in a statement, relayed that booster shots are now available for qualified fully vaccinated individuals.


"Maawis amin a haan pay nabakunaan iti COVID-19 vaccine, dagiti han pay nakaawat iti booster dose ken dagiti annak tayu nga agtawen 12 inggana 17 kasta met dagiti agtawen 18 pangatu ta adda manen ti maangay a barangay bayanihan bakunahan program," he said.


Meantime, to facilitate the attainment of their target, the PHO has expanded its vaccination sites with fixed sites, temporary post and mobile vaccination teams to be activated.

Schools, colleges, universities, and gymnasiums in both private and public institutions shall likewise be opened and utilized.

Further, the provincial government shall likewise mobilize all government agencies, stakeholders and issue moratoriums at all levels and fast track delivery of vaccines and ancillaries through mobilizing the assets of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police Office of the Civil Defense-Cordillera, Department of Transportation and private sector in the delivery of vaccines and ancillaries.


In addition to said plans, the vaccination team shall also intensify social preparation activities through dialogues during barangay assemblies, town hall meeting, FDS sessions, use of social media and quad media, mobilization and feature of experts such as physicians and civil societies, house to house campaign, using community leaders or influencers as advocates, deployment of social mobilizers and mobilization of barangay captains, Tanods and Barangay Health Workers and incentivize vaccine recipients vaccinated during the three-day period.


To successfully implement the program, the vaccination team shall activate health emergency command system structure within Local Vaccination Operation Centers for governance and coordination.
