KPH clinical departments to accept only extreme emergencies due to partial lockdown

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga Provincial Hospital shall only accept extreme emergency cases and follow-up check ups for non-Covid patients starting January 22 until further notice. This was the decision of KPH officials due to the partial lockdown imposed on all its clinical departments.


Dr. Marvin Jambaro, Infection Control Chairman of KPH narrated that the Medicine department was first put under lockdown this January 15 after a patient tested positive with Covid-19. Then the following day, they had to lockdown the Pediatrics for the same reason.


Unfortunately, 11 out of the 65 KPH personnel and contacts of the 2 patients tested positive of the virus.


While on lockdown, he said, they will only cater to emergency cases, “as to emergency, nu anya iti iyumay da ditoy kaspagarigan adda nadisgrasiya, i-cater mi pa rin.”


Moreover, for check-ups or for outpatients, the public is advise to go to other hospitals as OPD consultations are only limited to follow up check-ups and OB-GYNE patients with complications.


“Advise mi paylang daytoy outpatient, nu outpatient ngamin inkwa min nga mabalin da met nga kitan iti daduma like RHU ta ... kasi disinfection is ongoing pa rin ditoy hospital,” he said.


Other guidelines


Other guidelines written on the KPH Advisory released January 22 include no surgical procedures for elective cases until further notice, and patients for admission shall undergo Radip Antigen Test along with a watcher who will stay along for the whole duration of confinement. Also, the test for OPD patients will be a case to case basis.


Additionally, extreme emergecy cases, whether suspect, RTPCR or Rapid Antigen Test positive shall be managed accordingly until such time the patient is referred to a higher medical institution. OB-GYN, Orthopedic and Surgery patients positive will first be stabilized


Lastly, services of Covid-19 isolation unit will continue.


As of January 22, there are 31 Covid-19 patients currently isolated at KPH. 21 are at the Covid-19 isolation unit of the hospital while the rest who are health care workers are isolated at the Medical ward.
