Lubuagan suffered 23M estimated damages on infrastructure due to ‘Ulysses’

Poblacion, Lubuagan – Typhoon ‘Ulysses’ strong winds and continuous heavy downpour inflicted damages on the infrastructure, rice agriculture, livestock and vegetable farms in Lubuagan aside from affecting households, according to the Lubuagan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s (MDRRMC) Consolidated Damage Assessment Report.


The damage cost on infrastructure in both private and government properties amounts to 23,250,000.00 pesos estimated value.


The destruction was mostly the consequence of soil erosion, landslides and damaged roofing and ceiling. The worst hit infrastructure are the Sukiap Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) in Barangay Tanglag and the National Road along Wakangan Section in Barangay Poblacion.

Said damaged infrastructures shall be needing clearing and rehabilitation, according to the report.


Meanwhile, the estimated losses on damaged rice agriculture amounts to P291,150.00 based on farm gate price. There are seventy-three (73) rice farmers from Barangays Lower Uma(15 farmers), Tanglag (34), Upper Uma (11) and Western Uma (13) that were affected. Lubuagan MDRRMC said their rice plants were in the vegetative phase when it was hit by the typhoon.


There are also forty (40) affected vegetable farmers in Barangays Mabilong (15 farmers), Upper Uma (8) and Lower Uma (17) with crops in their vegetative stage and mostly were nearing harvests. The estimated cost of damage amounts to 525,100.00 pesos.

Two (2) families of duck raisers in Barangay Dangoy likewise were reported to have been affected. Estimated damages cost about 10,000.00 pesos.


Meanwhile, Lubuagan Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus said there are no reported damages on coffee plantations, fruit trees and fisheries as of yet.


She said that although the typhoon has caused damages in the municipality, the municipal government is grateful that there are no casualties. Just the same, she reiterated that the LGU is always alert and ready to assist its constituents in times of calamities and situations alike.
