Mayor Dagadag relieved with start of settlement between warring clans in Lubo, Tanudan

Tanudan, Kalinga − Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag expressed relief after the surrender of the suspects behind the series of killings due to clan feud since 2010, which facilitated settlement talks and stoppage of hostilities between the Lingbawan and Banya-ao families in Lubo.

Dagadag said that among their steps to settle the long-standing conflict between the clans is to convince the suspects that started the blood feud to surrender to the authorities.

Based on Tanudan police report, the Lingbawan and Banya-ao case stemmed from the death of a certain Gilbert Angngnay who was shot by a certain Adanggan while they were drinking at Bulanao Public Market in 2010.

The Banya-ao is on the Adaggan side, while the Lingbawan is on the Angnganay side. The feud led to bloody encounters such as the killing of Limbangan Banya-ao who was shot by the Lingbawan brothers.

With the efforts of the police, elders, tribemates, and the Municipal Local Government Unit of Tanudan led by Mayor Dagadag, the Banya-ao, and Lingbawan brothers have surrendered.

The latest surrender includes Albert Banya-ao who turned himself in to Tabuk City Police Station on August 31 and Tirso Lingbawan who surrendered on September 1 this year.

“Dagitoy umili nagtutungtungan da a pag-surrender-en da isuda ta kayat met lang dagitoy naggannak da ta haan da kuma a ma-wanted,” Dagadag said, adding that they opt for the dismissal of the case and that they want it to be settled amicably by the elders and officials.

Dagadag added that the surrender of the Banya-ao and Lingbawan brings hope in the settlement of this more than a decade of conflict and that the families would no longer have to live in fear.

“Siyempre napintasen [peace and order] tapnu adda ti namnama nan a maayos. Awanen ti kabuteng dagitoy pamilya da piman karkaru dagitoy adda ditoy Lubo piman ket agbibinnuteng da piman,” he said.
