Tabuk City, Kalinga – No schools within the Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley were included in the list of 100 public schools that will pilot the face-to-face classes on November 15 due to the risk level of the provinces in said regions.

Among the 100 schools identified by the Department of Education (DepEd) to mark the reopening of the in-person learning since the pandemic last year are from regions 1, 3, 4-A, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13.

As the department released the list on November 3, Education Secretary Leonor Briones explained that the schools were from the ‘low risk’ areas to COVID-19 as screened and inspected by their team.

Briones added that the schools secured permission from the parents of learners, local government units, Department of Health, and IATF for the conduct of limited face-to-face classes.

“Kami naman, for our part sa Department of Education, ini-inspect namin ang mga napipiling eskwelahan na kailangan handa ‘yung ating mga facilities, social distancing, may tubig, may gamot, malapit tayo sa mga health stations,” stated the education secretary.

Cordillera and Cagayan Valley regions were both classified by DOH as ‘high risk’ with Alert Level 4 by the last days of September when DepEd deliberated and inspected the schools to be included in the list.
