NPA members possibly injured after encounter in Cagayan

Cagayan, Philippines – Some members of the Communist Terrorist Groups are believed to have been injured following the armed encounter with the government forces on February 2 in Barangay Hacienda Intal, Baggao.

The 5th Infantry Division disclosed they found blood stains at the withdrawal route of the rebels.

The firefight between the two groups ensued after the army launched an intensified focus military operation against the remaining members of the Komiteng Probinsya Cagayan and Isabela, Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley.

The exchange of fire lasted for 20 minutes before the rebels withdrew and escaped the encounter site leaving an M16A1 rifle and a 45-caliber pistol behind.

With the blood found in the area, the Provincial Task Force-End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Cagayan encouraged these wounded rebels to surrender and seek medical assistance.

Last year, the East and West Front Committees of Komiteng Probinsya Cagayan have already been dismantled.
