Tabuk City, Kalinga―Provincial Science and Technology Center-Kalinga led by PSTC-Kalinga Head Jasmin Donaal bagged 3 awards, Gawad Kagalingan Award, 100% submission of proposals, and Promoter of the Year Award, during the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-CAR’s Virtual Awarding Ceremony this January 18, 2021.

PSTC-Kalinga is the first awardee of the Gawad Kagalingan since it was launched in 2019. Said award is in recognition of the “innovative alcohol production” done by the said office.

The alcohol production was able to produce ethyl alcohol at the shortest possible time due to scarcity of ethyl alcohol in the market places especially during the lockdown brought by the CoViD-19 pandemic.

This is also with the great help of Kalinga State University (KSU) for a partnership with their laboratory through President Eduardo Bagtang, funding from Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the mass production and funding from Provincial LGU and City LGU for the trainings.

Gawad Kagalingan or Most Innovative Center/Unit/Staff is granted to a team in recognition of their innovative ideas and outstanding accomplishments or contributions which resulted to the efficient operation of the Department's programs and activities.

Moreover, there were also on the spot awards which are 100% submission of target number of proposals on the set deadline for Local-Grants-In-Aid projects and Promoter of the Year Award for consistently conducting promotional efforts for the National S&T Week activities in CAR througwith 76 posts from November 3-30, 2020.

Meanwhile, PSTC-Kalinga Head Jasmin Donaal expressed her gratitude in behalf of their office to the partners, collaborators and kakailyans for winning said awards.

Additionally, Dexy Penrad Maslan Catacutan of DOST-Kalinga mentioned that with the great contribution of kalinga State University (since the ethyl alcohol production was done by them) with assistance from DOST, they could have not bagged the award involving alcohol production.

KSU and DOST-Kalinga have been partners in helping the community during the pandemic especially in trainings and production.
