Tabuk City, Kalinga―Tabuk City Market Administration Division under the supervision of City Market Administrator William Owek extended voluntary assistance to two beneficiaries who are suffering from severe illness from the budget which were supposed to be used for the celebration of their cancelled office Christmas program.

Considering the restrictions of the CoViD-19 pandemic, the charity work was done instead of spending the money on party.

City Market Administrator William Owek narrated that members of the workforce agreed to utilize their collection gathered from all the staff to be given to fellow Tabukeños who are in need of assistance.

“Tatta nga pandemic ta bawal met ti agparty party sunga nagnunumwan mi nga imbis nga agprty kami diay office or nu anya man ti papanan mi tumulong kami lattan kadagidiay agkasapulan,” he said.

Said assistance was personally handed by them on January 15, 2021. Owek said that the assistance was their way to show the culture of giving especially in the midst of the pandemic although the cash is not much but they believe that no matter how small the amount, the most important is that people help each other.

PhP3,000 cash was given to Joe Duguit from Magao-gao, Pinukpuk. He is a bone cancer patient and is bed ridden. The other is Martin Bumatang III, 11-year-old of Barangay Lanna who is suffering from Muscles Dystrophy. Bumatang was given PhP2,500 worth of grocery and PhP5,000 cash..

“Ta nu addan tu manen nu sumar saruno isu met ti ikkan tayo. Maymayat ti tumulong karkaru ta ammo tayo nagado ti agkasapulan,” Owek said.
