Vice Gov Odiem says cultural factors contributed much to Kalinga’s battle against CoViD-19

Tabuk City, Kalinga―Vice Governor Dave Odiem pointed out in his message during the virtual Kalinga’s 26th Founding Anniversary that the resilient character brought by unique cultural identity has been the weapon of every yKalinga in going through the challenges of the pandemic.


These cultural identify which are a composition of traditions and practices shared among Ykalingas are considered to be the binding force that kept the province together.


Despite the advent of the dreaded CoViD-19, Vice Governor Dave Odiem urged the people to still commemorate with festive spirit and camaraderie the said founding anniversary.


“Indeed, this pandemic is another test of our resilience to confront this challenge. Thus, our theme overcoming challenges, building resilience and sustaining cultural identity uplifts lives the direction of our efforts and resources in order to overcome this adversity,” he said.

In addition, Odiem is confident that people shall be able to withstand and recover by clinging to the culture and traditions as well as by being one with the founders, present and the past leaders and the employees of the province.


“In order for us to sustain our unique cultural identity let us remember our origin and embrace our culture, traditions, and language and heritage, and showcase our native products as awareness of our Kalinga identity,” he said.


Meantime, Odiem calls on people to sustain the unity, discipline and camaraderie.

“We enjoin everyone that instead of complaining about the restrictions and limitations in the performance of our usual daily activities and becoming problem to our authorities let us cooperate and obediently comply with the measures imposed to contain the virus,” he said.


“Rest assured that our sacrifices in these hard and trying times will ultimately renown for the benefits of our people and a boost towards the attainment of a sustainable development and progress for our province,” he further stated.
