Baguio City has unused fund of P27.1M for Covid-19 operation

Baguio City, Philippines – Despite recording the highest COVID-19 cases in Cordillera, the City of Baguio has still P27.1 million funds remaining for its COVID-related operations.

Public Information Office - City of Baguio revealed this in a press release this Friday, June, 24, 2022.

According to the City Budget Officer Leticia O. Clemente, for over the past 2 years COVID-19 operation the city received a total of P633.92 million funding to combat the spread of the deadly virus. Of said fund, P525.77 million had been used.

The office said the cash appropriations are from various supplemental budgets and other sources from the national government such as Bayanihan grant to cities and municipalities and the remittance by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC).

P112.9 million of the fund, as specified by the office, was spent on the personnel’s job salaries in isolation centers and central triage, P95.7million for personnel meals, P91.3 million for vaccines, P80.5 million for maintenance and operating expenses, P49.2 million for medical supplies and equipment, and P37.9 million for office supplies.

Further, P37.9 million was used for medicines, P10.6 million for utility expenses, P6.5 million for medical laboratory services, P5.1 million for security and janitorial services, P3.7 million for repair expense, P2.5 million for motor vehicle and P297.28 million for fuel and travelling.

The remaining fund shall be utilized by the city government to further enhance its pandemic response.
