Police from Kalinga saves 2, dies from gunshot wound in CALABARZON firefight

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A young yKalinga police who was wounded after saving two abducted Chinese-Filipino nationals in CALABARZON passed away at a hospital on June 27, 2022.

Patrolman Joshua Linggayo, a member of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group, is from Bantay, Tabuk City. He was three years in the police service.

According to a relative, his remains will be brought home to Barangay Bantay today, June 28.

Linggayo was among the operatives who tracked down the suspects behind the kidnapping of a 21-year-old student and his 34-year-old businessman cousin in exchange for P100,000,000 on June 4, 2022.

The PNP reported on June 15 that the suspects agreed with the counter offer of the victims’ families. A ransom payoff was set in Calamba, Laguna, where the victims were freed.

After the transaction, the operatives located the suspects’ getaway vehicle where a shoot-out transpired in Pililia, Rizal.

This resulted in the death of the suspects and the injury of Linggayo who was rushed to the hospital.

On June 18, Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr. conferred Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting to Linggayo in recognition of his bravery and sacrifice during the rescue of the two Chinese-Filipino nationals.
