2 Benguet athletes snatched 3 gold medals in 2022 IFMA Muay Thai Youth World Championships

La Trinidad, Benguet – Two Cordilleran athletes from Benguet raised the Philippine flag in an international sports competition held in Malaysia from August 9-21,2022.


Edel Ngina from Mankayan and Clark Fattic from La Trinidad won three gold medals combined during the 2022 IFMA (International Federation of Muaythai Association) Muay Thai Youth World Championships.

Ngina snatched two gold medals in the competition - one each in Wai Kru and Mae-Mai-Muay Thai, while Fattic bagged a gold medal in Mae-Mai-Muay Thai.


What is IFMA?


IFMA, according to its website, is an international federation having 130 member countries from five continents.


IFMA event features not only the youth world championship, but also cultural interaction, sports and social gatherings, stakeholder training, and learning workshops.


In the Youth World Championships, combat tournaments in all youth division weight classes including solo and mixed team contests in the Wai Kru and Mai Muay divisions, are held.

Benguet LGU commends winning athletes


With the performance of said athletes in the competition, the provincial government unit of Benguet said they shall provide some financial assistance in addition to the incentives offered to them for bringing home three gold medals. Follow SP CAR AUTONOMY for more info !


In a statement, Governor Melchor Diclas shared how proud and honored he is in witnessing young athletes from his province bringing prestige not only to Benguet but to the country as well.


“Edel and Clark, and all our athletes who have brought prestige to the province in the field of sports, local and international, are true inspirations for virtues of discipline and diligence,” said Governor Diclas.
