Tuba, Benguet - A 44-year-old man died while three others were injured on Thursday, July 11, in Tuba after a parked truck suddenly moved forward and hit other vehicles.

The casualty was identified as Ruel Ocañada, a resident of Baguio City, while injured individuals were Eulinemar Talabis, 29, from La Trinidad; a 15-year-old native of La Union; and the driver of the truck John Mark Villa Franca, 30, a resident of Pangasinan.

According to the Tuba Municipal Police Station, the truck was filled with vegetables and was parked on the side of the road in Sitio Bontiwey, Poblacion. At the time, the four individuals were transferring the vegetables to another truck.

While they were doing their job, the truck loaded with vegetables suddenly moved forward and hit the other truck where they just transferred the produce before it collided with a sports utility vehicle and a passenger’s jeep.

This resulted in the death of Ocañada and the injuries of his co-workers. No one was reported hurt from the occupants of the sports utility vehicle and the jeep.

The casualty suffered severe traumatic brain injury, multiple facial fractures and multiple rib fractures.  The other three workers – Talabis, Luzano, and Villa Franca – survived the incident and are now in stable condition.
