Abandoned baby, still with umbilical cord, found at creek in Ramon, Isabela

Isabela, Philippines – Police authorities in Ramon, Isabela are now looking for the person responsible of abandoning a newborn at a creek on Monday, February 23.

 

The infant, whose umbilical cord was still attached, was discovered by a concerned citizen who happened to pass by the Macaniao Creek in Barangay Ambatali this morning. The person described that his attention was caught by a basin placed on top of a barrier at the side of the creek. When he inspected it, he saw the newborn wrapped in a dark pillow case.

 

The passerby immediately alerted the punong barangay who immediately coordinated with Ramon Police Station.

 

Upon verification of the report, the police authorities took the baby boy to the Rural Health Unit Ramon for immediate intervention.

 

While the baby is being taken care of at the Ramon RHU Birthing Center, the police are now investigating the incident to find the person responsible of leaving the baby. Additionally, the police are appealing to anyone who has information about the incident to contact them.

 

“Kami po ay nananawagan sa sinumang may nalalaman o anumang impormasyon kaugnay ng insidenteng ito na makipag-ugnayan sa Ramon Police Station. Ang inyong pakikipagtulungan ay mahalaga upang mabigyan ng hustisya ang sanggol at mapanagot ang mga dapat managot sa batas,” Ramon PNP wrote.
