TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Two tricycle drivers are facing drug charges after allegedly selling two sachets of suspected shabu to undercover police officers during a buy-bust operation at Dagupan Public Market here on October 12.

Kalinga Police Provincial Office (KPPO) spokesperson PMaj. Ruff Manganip identified the suspects as a 36-year-old tricycle driver from Casigayan and a 42-year-old tricycle driver from Dagupan West.

Manganip said the two were arrested after they allegedly transacted with and sold two small sachets containing suspected shabu to undercover police officers during the operation Monday afternoon.

The suspects were taken into police custody following the inventory of the seized items and were subjected to inquest proceedings on October 13 for alleged violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

A day earlier, on October 11, police also recovered suspected illegal drugs during a separate buy-bust operation in Agbannawag.

According to police, the target of the operation sensed that he was dealing with an undercover operative and fled. The suspected illegal drugs recovered were brought to the Tuguegarao City Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.

Manganip said the KPPO, through the marching order of its Officer-in-Charge, PCol. Peter Ngabit Jr., will continue its sustained and relentless campaign against illegal drugs and urged residents to report information about drug use and selling in their communities.

“Continuous iti demand reduction tayo iti illegal drugs, and it is a warning kadagitoy [users and pushers] ta adu latta iti agrep-report, maminsan ket pati kapamilya da ket i-report da daisuda nga agus-usar da. Ken dagitoy kakailyan, haan da nga mabuteng nga ag-report kadagitoy pulis ta nu i-report da lang haan da met nga maamwan nga da isuda iti nangireport,” Manganip said.
