Tricycle driver in Cauayan City faces Resistance and Disobedience Complaint after cursing at police

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela — A 40-year-old tricycle driver who figured in a road accident is facing a complaint after he allegedly cursed and spoke harshly to police investigators while reporting the incident in Cauayan City on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Initial investigation by the Cauayan Component Police Station showed that the tricycle driver, identified by the alias “Conrad,” was involved in a collision with a Toyota Wigo driven by “Mon,” 34, along Alicaocao Bridge in Barangay Alicaocao.

Police said the two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the Toyota Wigo was nearing the far end of the bridge and the approaching tricycle accidentally struck it.

Both drivers proceeded to the police station to report the incident and provide their statements.

However, while police investigators were taking their statements, Conrad, who was reportedly observed to be intoxicated, allegedly cursed at and spoke harshly to the duty investigators.

The incident prompted police to file a complaint for Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority or the Agents of Such Person against the tricycle driver.

Under Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 10951, resistance or serious disobedience to a person in authority or an agent while performing official duties is punishable by arresto mayor and a fine of up to ₱100,000. Less serious disobedience carries a lower penalty.
