14-year-old girl from Isabela among killed after trailer truck slams rear of bus in Nueva Ecija

San Mariano, Isabela – A 14-year-old girl from Isabela was among the two people killed in a horrific vehicular accident involving a passenger bus and a trailer truck along the highway in Barangay Tayabo, San Jose on May 16.


The victim, whose identity was withheld by authorities, was a resident of San Mariano.


Based on the police report cited by local media outlets, the minor was among the passengers of a bus that had stopped for a roadside break when tragedy struck. A trailer truck, which reportedly lost control, suddenly rammed the rear portion of the parked bus.


The violent collision pushed both vehicles forward, causing them to crash into a nearby house and eatery. Several passengers sustained injuries during the incident.


Authorities later confirmed the deaths of the 14-year-old girl and a 32-year-old businessman, both passengers of the bus.


Investigators also noted that the crash damaged several nearby establishments along the highway.


As of this writing, authorities are still conducting further investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.


The truck driver may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property.
