ECHAGUE, Isabela — A 26-year-old man listed as a Most Wanted Person and facing five rape cases was arrested during a police operation in Barangay San Felipe, Echague, Isabela on September 14, 2026.

Police identified the suspect only as alias “Leon,” a resident of Barangay San Felipe.

The arrest was carried out at around 3:30 p.m. by the Tracker Team of the Echague Police Station, serving as lead unit, with support from the 205th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 2 (205th MC-RMFB) and the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Isabela Police Provincial Office (PIU-IPPO).

Authorities arrested Leon by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued in connection with three counts of rape under Republic Act No. 11648 and two counts of qualified rape.

The cases carry no recommended bail, according to the Isabela Police Provincial Office.

Following his arrest, the suspect was brought to the Echague Police Station for documentation and proper processing before his turnover to the court that issued the warrant.

Isabela Police Provincial Director PCOL Manuel B. Bringas said the arrest demonstrates the police force’s continuing efforts to hold wanted individuals accountable.

“The successful arrest of a wanted person is proof of our continuing efforts to ensure that those facing serious charges are held accountable under the law,” Bringas said.

He added that the Isabela police would continue strengthening intelligence-driven operations and coordination among police units to locate wanted persons and protect communities.

“No one hiding from the law should escape accountability,” Bringas said.

The arrest forms part of the IPPO’s continuing campaign to serve outstanding warrants and apprehend wanted persons in the province.

A similar Isabela police operation in March resulted in the arrest of another Most Wanted Person facing two statutory rape charges in Aparri, Cagayan, after a coordinated operation led by the Echague police and supported by intelligence and mobile-force units.
