SAGADA, Mountain Province — A 41-year-old laborer accused of raping and impregnating his 18-year-old relative in Nueva Vizcaya was arrested in Sagada, Mountain Province, on October 29, 2026, after police tracked him down outside his home province.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Jaojao,” is a married resident of Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya, and is listed as the Top 7 Regional Most Wanted Person in Cagayan Valley.

According to the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO 2), the suspect faces rape charges in connection with two alleged sexual assaults committed in 2025.

The first incident reportedly occurred in March 2025 in Barangay Siguem, Kasibu, where the suspect allegedly forced himself on his 18-year-old relative while threatening her with a firearm.

The second incident allegedly happened in April 2025, after the victim attended a funeral in Barangay Mabasa, Dupax del Norte, with her aunt. The suspect reportedly took her into his vehicle and drove to a secluded area in Alloy, Kasibu, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her again while threatening her with a gun.

Afraid of the suspect, the victim initially kept the incidents to herself. She later discovered that she was pregnant and gave birth on December 21, 2025.

It was only on April 5, 2026, that she found the courage to disclose the alleged abuses to her family. With their support, she reported the incidents to the police, prompting an investigation and the filing of charges against the suspect.

Armed with a warrant of arrest, personnel of the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office, in coordination with the Sagada Municipal Police Station, tracked down and arrested Jaojao in Sagada on October 29.

The court did not recommend bail for his temporary release.

Cagayan Valley Police Regional Director PBGen. Mariano Rodriguez said the arrest demonstrates the police force's commitment to pursuing wanted individuals wherever they may go.

“Hindi tayo titigil hangga’t hindi naihaharap sa hukuman ang mga taong may pananagutan sa batas at nabibigyan ng pagkakataong makamit ng mga biktima ang hustisyang kanilang hinahangad,” he said.
