BANGUED, Abra — A nurse was killed and his 10-year-old daughter injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire at their family’s vehicle in Barangay Bacsil-Anggad, Bangued, Abra, at around 9 p.m. on October 23.

The victim, Mark Kenneth Acedo, a nurse at Abra Provincial Hospital, was driving home with his wife and their three daughters, aged 13, 10 and 6, when the shooting occurred.

The family had reportedly gone for an evening walk at the Abra Sports Complex before heading home.

The shooting occurred about 100 to 200 meters from the family’s residence.

A bullet casing was reportedly recovered at the scene. Authorities were also reviewing available closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from nearby establishments and locations to help identify the suspects and trace their movements.

As of the initial report, no suspects had been identified, and the motive remained undetermined. Investigators were still establishing whether the family was specifically targeted or what prompted the attack.
