Pinukpuk, Kalinga – The grounds of Asibanglan Elementary School in Pinukpuk were filled with excitement on March 6, 2026, as children and residents gathered for an outreach program led by the Kalinga Provincial Government Women’s Organization, Incorporated (KPGWOI).

Held as part of the month-long celebration of National Women’s Month, the outreach reached hundreds of beneficiaries in Barangay Asibanglan, with the majority being young learners and members of vulnerable sectors.

According to Governor James Edduba, through his Facebook page, 104 elementary pupils and 13 daycare children were provided free haircuts by personnel of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (KPPO), along with nail trimming, hygiene education, and advocacy sessions.

Gift packs and Jollibee treats were also distributed, bringing excitement and smiles to the children who eagerly lined up for the services.

A Jollibee mascot was also present at the venue to further entertain the young attendees.

Forty-three persons with disabilities (PWDs) were likewise included in the program, receiving assistance through donations from Jhada K Beads.

Through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the Pinukpuk Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), assistance was also extended to the oldest woman in the barangay and several bedridden residents identified as Janito Baledane, Domingo Dusaz, Dioricia Gaano, Posita Tawalon, Zenaida Gaano, and Martes Gaano.

The aid was received by their respective representatives.

Moreover, victims of violence against women and children (VAWC) were also given gift assistance as part of the program’s effort to support and encourage individuals facing difficult circumstances.

Governor Edduba also provided cash assistance to the KPPO personnel conducting the haircuts to help them purchase additional equipment for future activities.

During the activity, beneficiaries and local officials expressed their deep gratitude to the stakeholders for bringing essential services directly to their community.

Meanwhile, the governor, known as the “father of the province,” commended the officers and members of the KPGWOI, under the leadership of PSWDO Head Rosemaritez A. Oyawon, for spearheading the initiative.

Governor Edduba emphasized that genuine public service goes beyond the confines of offices.
