Tabuk City, Kalinga – After almost two weeks on the run, the two prisoners from Tabuk City Police Station who escaped from their cell are now back in police custody.

Andres Benito Jr. and Michael Macagne, who were arrested for anti-illegal drugs and anti-illegal firearms charges in December 2025, escaped from detention on January 4, 2026. The two reportedly cut the round bar railings of the custodial facility at the Tabuk City Police Station to exit from their cell and ran away.

Operatives in the province had since been mobilized to look for them until January 15 when Benito, who was accompanied by his aunt, turned himself in at the Camp Captain Juan M Duyan at 1:45 p.m.  A day later, Macagne, who was accompanied by his sister, also surrendered to the authorities around 9:00 a.m.

The two were turned over to the Tabuk City Police Station for proper disposition and investigation.

Kalinga Police Provincial Director, PCol. Gilbert Fati-ig, expressed that the Kalinga police remain committed to upholding the rule of law and in securing the people in the province.

“The surrender of these escapees signifies a positive step toward restoring public trust and strengthening accountability. We remain steadfast in our commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure the safety and security of our communities,” Fati-ig conveyed.
