Pinukpuk, Kalinga – Not wearing a helmet led to the arrest of a motorcycle rider during an Oplan Sita operation and the implementation of Municipal Ordinance No. 2017-03 by the Pinukpuk police on May 10, 2026.

In an interview with Pinukpuk MPS OIC-Chief of Police PCPT. Tyrone Balanay, he said the motorcycle rider was stopped at the Junction Fixed Visibility Point because both he and his back rider were not wearing helmets.

When they were flagged down, the back rider immediately fled, leaving the driver behind. The driver was also unable to present a driver’s license and appeared visibly nervous while being questioned by the authorities.

When asked to present the motorcycle’s OR/CR, the suspect voluntarily opened the compartment, exposing sachets of suspected shabu and live ammunition in plain view, which resulted in his lawful arrest.

Confiscated from the suspect were 27 sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 177.3 grams, with an estimated standard drug price of ₱1,205,640.00. Alongside the illegal drugs, police also recovered 13 rounds of .45 caliber live ammunition and seven rounds of .38 caliber live ammunition.

“The Pinukpuk cops remain committed to intensifying anti-illegal drug operations and strict law enforcement to ensure community safety. This accomplishment highlights the importance of vigilance and proactive policing,” said PCPT. Balanay.

The police chief also reminded the public not to engage in illegal activities, warning that violators will not be spared from law enforcement operations.
