Atty. Comafay says Dummy Account red-tagged him after calling out alleged ‘Drop Ball’ gambling in Bulanao, Tabuk City

TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Tabuk City Councilor Atty. Errol Comafay said he was red-tagged by a social media account after he called the attention of police to an alleged “Drop Ball” gambling activity in Bulanao, Tabuk City.

Comafay made the statement on the morning of Friday, September 11, 2026, after a social media account questioned whether he was affiliated with a left-leaning organization following his post calling on the police to look into the alleged gambling activity.

Comafay had earlier posted a video online that purportedly showed a “Drop Ball” gambling operation in Bulanao, and called the attention of the Tabuk City Police and the Kalinga Police Provincial Office to the alleged activity.

In a subsequent post, Comafay said the account that questioned his alleged affiliation was a dummy account and accused it of red-tagging him for raising concerns about the alleged gambling operation.

“Dahil tinawag ko ang pansin ng PNP kung bakit may pasugalan sa Tabuk na ilang metro lang ang layo sa Sub-station nila ay may dummy account na nagtatanong kung ako raw ba ay kasali sa mga makakaliwang grupo,” Comafay said.

The screenshot of the account’s comment showed the user addressing Comafay as a councilor and attorney before asking whether he was part of a “left leaning organization.”

Comafay said such questioning constitutes red-tagging, which he described as an attempt to intimidate or silence individuals who raise concerns about alleged wrongdoing in government.

‘Hindi ako NPA’

In his post, Comafay categorically denied being a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) or any left-leaning organization.

“Hindi ako NPA. Hindi rin ako kasapi sa anumang maka-kaliwang grupo,” he said.

He described himself as a “mulat at malayang mamamayan” who wants a government that is orderly and humane.

“Hindi ko gustong pabagsakin ang gobyerno. Ang gusto ko ay matigil ang katiwalian sa gobyerno,” Comafay said.

He added that he entered public service to help fight corruption and wrongdoing in government.

Outspoken on corruption

Comafay has been an outspoken advocate against alleged corruption and government irregularities and, according to his statement, has faced attacks from dummy accounts since he won election and became the city’s No. 1 councilor.

His latest post came after he raised the alleged “Drop Ball” activity in Bulanao and called on law enforcement authorities to look into it.

As of publication, there was no confirmation from the police regarding the alleged gambling activity shown in the video or whether an investigation had been initiated.
