Baguio City, Philippines – A retired soldier ended up behind bars after allegedly attacking a young man with a knife in Gibraltar, Baguio City, on Saturday night, April 25, 2026.

Police accounts, as cited by DZWT 540 AM, revealed that the incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. while the 24-year-old victim was walking along Rose Alley in Purok 3, Gibraltar, with two companions.

At the time, the 68-year-old suspect—who was reportedly intoxicated—suddenly stabbed the victim, causing injuries.

The victim’s companions immediately rushed him to the hospital before reporting the incident to Pacdal Police Station 3. Authorities then launched a follow-up operation and later tracked down the suspect at his residence in the same area.

The suspect was arrested and taken into police custody pending the filing of a case for serious physical injuries against him.

Meanwhile, from January to February 2026, the Philippine National Police recorded a total of 4,532 focus crimes, of which 284 involved physical injuries. This figure is lower compared to the 368 cases documented during the same period last year.
