Tinglayan, Kalinga – A motorcycle back rider died after the vehicle they were riding plunged into a 250-meter-deep ravine in Tinglayan, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The incident occurred past 11:00 a.m. when two men, whose identities were withheld, were traveling on a motorcycle along the road leading to Buscalan. Police investigators believe the driver lost control of the vehicle along the Kilib Mangapi road, causing them to fall into the deep ravine beside the road.

The crash resulted in fatal injuries to the back rider, while the driver survived after managing to grab and hold onto a plastic pipe, where he remained hanging in the ravine until rescuers arrived.

Initial police reports stated that the back rider sustained severe head injuries and was declared dead by a responding midwife. Meanwhile, the survivor was treated at the Rural Health Unit of Tinglayan and is now in stable condition.

Local police authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
