25-yr.-old Criminology graduate arrested in La Trinidad “Shabu buy-bust”

La Trinidad, Benguet – A man who finished a course intended for law enforcement is now behind bars after being arrested in a buy-bust operation in La Trinidad, Benguet, on the evening of Monday, May 4.


At around 9:00 p.m., operatives of the Benguet Police Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) conducted the operation in Shamolog, Pico, targeting the 25-year-old suspect identified only by the alias “Janjan.”


According to police reports cited by local media outlets, an undercover police officer acted as the buyer during the operation and successfully purchased one sachet of suspected shabu from the suspect.


The confiscated substance weighed nearly one gram and had an estimated value of P3,468. Authorities immediately arrested the suspect after the transaction.


Following his arrest, police recovered two more sachets of suspected illegal drugs from Janjan with an estimated value of P1,564.


Other items seized from the suspect included the marked money used in the operation, boodle money, a mobile phone, and a pouch.


The suspect, who was reportedly a criminology graduate from Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, is now under police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
