43-year-old businessman from Isabela found dead in Rizal, Kalinga; Investigation underway

Rizal, Kalinga - A 43-year-old businessman from Sta. Maria, Isabela was found dead at around 4:00 a.m. on September 24 in Sitio Andarayan, Barangay Santor, Rizal, Kalinga, with stab wounds on the side of his body.

According to Rizal MPS Officer-in-Charge Dalmacio Mangigil in a phone interview, the victim was discovered early in the morning, prompting authorities to immediately request the Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) team to examine the area and the body.

Mangigil identified the victim as a 43-year-old businessman but did not provide further details regarding his identity pending the ongoing investigation.

“Accordingly, nabirukan mga around 4 di agsapa lang idiay Sitio Andarayan, Barangay Santor Rizal. Nagrequest kami dagus ti SOCO ket inmay da met piman so diyay, nakita nga adda stab wounds ditoy side ti bagi na,” he said.

The presence of stab wounds and the condition of the body are now among the circumstances being considered by authorities as they continue their investigation into the incident.

Mangigil said the absence of blood around the body led investigators to believe that the victim may have been killed elsewhere and subsequently brought to the area.

 “… malinis yung katawan isu nga haan nga ditoy nga pinatay da. Ta nu ditoy kuma ket nadar-dara kuma diay body,” he said.

The victim’s family later arrived and confirmed his identity. Mangilig said the family is from Sta. Maria, Isabela, and arrangements were being made to retrieve the remains from the Funeraria Carbonel, Tabuk City.

“Inmay ti pamilya na metten, ta from Sta. Maria, Isabela da gayam ket confirmed metten identity na so mapan dan alan idiay funeraria idiay Carbonel dita Tabuk,” he said.

As of writing, police continue to gather information and examine the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death, including where and how he sustained the stab wounds.
