KPH exceeds 100-bed capacity; ‘Occupied na po ang corridors’

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – With the influx of patients at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH) this week, several admitted patients are now occupying the corridors and areas near offices inside the hospital.

On Tuesday, September 23, OIC-Chief of Hospital, Dr. Rey Aranca, informed that the hospital exceeded the 100 authorized bed capacity for all departments. He cited that the Department of Pediatrics alone has 90 patients today, which is way over its 30-bed capacity.

For this reason, several patients currently receiving care at the hospital are now occupying the hallway and other areas around the hospital.

With the current situation of KPH, including the fact that a number of patients are admitted due to dengue, Aranca urged the public to follow precautionary measures from the Department of Health which could prevent sickness and possible hospital admission.  

“Kailangan mi tulong u para haan madagdagan ti census babaen ti panagsurot ti notices and precautionary measures magapo from the Department of health,” he wrote on Facebook on September 23.

Likewise, with the current surge of patients at the KPH, Aranca conveyed his appreciation to the hospital healthcare workers and staff who are working overtime and extra harder to attend to every patient at the facility.

“To our hospital health workers, maraming salamat po for extending your hours of duty in order to take care of these patients,” he said.
