Woman found dead in Calanasan; Apayao police seek public help to identify victim

Calanasan, Apayao – Police authorities in Apayao are currently conducting an investigation to establish the identity of a woman who was found dead in Calanasan on Sunday.


According to a police report, the body was discovered in Sitio Macopa, Barangay Tubungan, on April 19.


Personnel from the Calanasan Municipal Police Station, together with the Municipal Health Office (MHO), the Municipal Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Provincial Forensic Unit (PFU), conducted an on-site investigation.


The MHO confirmed that the victim was female, while further examination was carried out by the PFU to determine the exact cause of death.


The remains were subsequently transported to the Far Northern Luzon General Hospital and Training Center in Luna for proper disposition.


In a Facebook post, the Apayao Provincial Police Office reported that a case conference was held on April 20 at Camp Gov. Elias K. Bulut Sr. in Luna. The meeting aimed to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident, consolidate investigative findings, determine appropriate courses of action, and strengthen coordination to ensure the swift resolution of the case and the delivery of justice.


As of this writing, efforts are ongoing to identify the victim, with authorities seeking public cooperation.


The police urged anyone with information, including reports of missing persons, to proceed to the nearest police station or contact the Calanasan Municipal Police Station hotline at 0998-598-7725.


The public was also advised to refrain from spreading unverified information to avoid affecting the progress of the ongoing investigation.
