Baguio City, Philippines – The Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) has been ranked 13th in the Philippines on the World’s Best Hospitals (WBH) 2026 list, released on February 25, 2026, by Newsweek in partnership with Statista. It is the only hospital from the Cordillera Administrative Region included in this internationally recognized ranking.

The WBH is an annual global hospital ranking, launched in 2019, that identifies top-performing hospitals worldwide based on multiple performance indicators, including peer recommendations, patient experience, and quality performance metrics.

According to Statista—a global data-as-a-service company with an extensive collection of statistics, reports, and insights—there are approximately 215,977 hospitals worldwide as of 2026. For this year’s edition, over 2,500 hospitals from 32 countries were evaluated.

Of these, 35 hospitals from the Philippines made the list. BGHMC secured 13th place with a total score of 72.73%, while Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) led the region at 19th place with a score of 71.72%.

The global ranking also highlighted that the Philippines, along with Turkey, participated for the first time this year, underscoring the achievement of the listed institutions. Globally, Mayo Clinic-Rochester in Minnesota, USA, claimed the top spot, while St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City was recognized as the Philippines’ best hospital.

BGHMC’s inclusion in the 2026 list reinforces its reputation as a leading government-run tertiary hospital, providing advanced medical care and specialized services to patients across Northern Luzon and the wider Cordillera region.
