TANUDAN, Kalinga — Tanudan ranked second among Kalinga's municipalities in total cooperative assets, recording ₱47.94 million from five registered cooperatives as of September 2026.

Data presented by Senior Cooperative Development Specialist Dr. Lotes Lab-oyan during the Credit Surety Fund (CSF) Roadshow and Contributors’ Seminar on Wednesday, October 21, showed that Tanudan's cooperatives had combined assets of ₱47,943,486 during the first nine months of 2026.

Tabuk City, Kalinga's lone city, topped the provincial list with ₱7.9 billion in cooperative assets, while Rizal ranked next among the municipalities after Tanudan, with ₱19.02 million.

The data presented did not include asset figures for Balbalan, Lubuagan, Pasil, Pinukpuk, and Tinglayan.

Despite having only five registered cooperatives, Tanudan's reported assets placed it ahead of Rizal and highlighted the role of cooperatives in supporting members' savings, livelihoods, and local economic activities.

Across Kalinga, the number of registered cooperatives increased from 206 in 2025 to 209 in 2026. Their combined assets also rose from ₱7.59 billion last year to ₱8.04 billion this year.

At the regional level, Kalinga ranked third in total cooperative assets in the Cordillera Administrative Region, behind Baguio City with ₱17.29 billion and Benguet with ₱16.53 billion.

For Tanudan, the cooperative sector provides residents with opportunities to pool resources, access financial services, and support livelihood activities in the mountainous municipality.

Under the leadership of Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss P. Dagadag and Vice Mayor Antonio L. Basungit Jr., the municipality continues to pursue local development initiatives, with cooperatives forming part of its economic activities.
