TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Kalinga’s cooperative assets climbed to ₱8.04 billion as of September 2026, ranking the province third in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), behind Baguio City and Benguet.

The province’s combined cooperative assets increased by approximately ₱454.33 million from ₱7.59 billion in 2025, according to data presented by Senior Cooperative Development Specialist Dr. Lotes Lab-oyan during the Credit Surety Fund (CSF) Roadshow and Contributors’ Seminar at the Kalinga Sports Center in Bulanao, Tabuk City, on October 21.

Kalinga’s cooperative assets have steadily increased over the past five years, from ₱4.31 billion in 2022 to ₱5.05 billion in 2023, ₱5.90 billion in 2024, and ₱7.59 billion in 2025, before reaching ₱8.04 billion in September 2026.

The province ranked behind Baguio City, which recorded ₱17.29 billion in cooperative assets, and Benguet, with ₱16.53 billion.

Kalinga surpassed Ifugao, with ₱6.79 billion; Mountain Province, with ₱5.49 billion; Abra, with ₱3.36 billion; and Apayao, with ₱448.37 million.

Across CAR, total cooperative assets reached ₱57.96 billion as of September 2026, up from ₱57.53 billion in 2025.

The province also recorded an increase in registered cooperatives, from 206 in 2025 to 209 as of September 2026. The number has grown from 187 in 2022.

However, cooperative membership declined to 129,274 from 133,850 in 2025, a decrease of 4,576 members.

Lab-oyan said the figures could still change in the remaining months of the year.

The data were presented during discussions involving the provincial government led by Governor James S. Edduba, the Cooperative Development Authority-CAR, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and cooperative representatives on strengthening cooperatives and improving their access to financing through the CSF.

The program provides surety coverage to help qualified cooperatives and micro, small, and medium enterprises obtain bank loans even if they lack sufficient collateral.

The roadshow and seminar formed part of Kalinga’s observance of Cooperative Month this October.
