Tabuk City, Kalinga – Vice Governor Dave Odiem, during the flag ceremony this week, reported that members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan actively supported the province’s athletes in the 2026 CARAA Meet held in Benguet, while also holding legislative sessions to approve Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs) and other requests to ensure that services and programs were not delayed.

Odiem emphasized that despite their packed schedules—balancing local events, athletic support, and national conventions—SP members still prioritize legislative work.

“Uray busy ti schedule, we work tapno saan madelay dagiti programs and projects para ti pagsayaatan ti kakailyan. It is our job to ensure nga napaspas ti panakaadal ti requests, MOAs, resolutions, ken daduma pay nga masapul tapno magna ti proceso,” Odiem explained during a follow-up interview.

Speaking to provincial employees on March 2, 2026, he also reminded male employees to respect, love, and honor women, especially as the province observes National Women’s Month, emphasizing their role as partners in development.

Odiem further recalled their presence at the CARAA Meet 2026, noting that providing moral support to the athletes made a tangible difference in their performance.

“Nakita tayo met nga uray kasanu, saan tayo met nga last. And if you look at our medal haul, mas ad-ado ti medalya tayo tatta ngem idi last year. This year, we got 22 gold medals… kumpara last year nga four,” he added.

While attending CARAA, Odiem noted that SP members maximized their time by holding sessions in Baguio City to deliberate on proposed ordinances, passed resolutions, and MOA requests from Governor James Eduba and various local government units.

“Idjay met Baguio, tapnun haan met masayang ti oras ti SP; nag-session kami idjay Baguio… Ta adu pay ti MOA nga kailangan ni Apo Governor ken dagiti naduma-duma nga municipalities,” Odiem said.

The vice governor also highlighted the SP members’ active role during the month-long celebration of the 31st Kalinga Founding Anniversary and the 7th Bodong Festival held in February.

This March, the provincial legislators participated in the 34th National Convention of the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines (PBMLP) in Manila to further strengthen local legislation.

The national event was held from March 2 to 4, 2026, at the Manila Hotel.

While in Manila, as shared by Board Member Emilio Kitongan to Guru Press Cordillera, SP members also conducted an off-site regular session to deliberate on proposed measures aimed at boosting development in the province.
