Pinukpuk, Kalinga – The suspect behind the recent shooting in Pinukpuk is set to face multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder cases, according to Kalinga police.

The accused, a member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary of the Allangigan Patrol Base in Apatan, is currently in police custody after opening fire on his comrades on Tuesday, February 17.

Citing the initial investigation, Kalinga Police Spokesperson PCapt. Ruff Manganip told GURU Press Cordillera that the incident occurred around 7:47 p.m., while the five victims were preparing to have dinner.

“The initial investigation of Pinukpuk MPS shows that the victims were preparing to have dinner at the kiosk when the suspect suddenly cursed and fired at them. Two died on the spot, one was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, and two others were wounded,” Manganip said.

The suspect initially escaped but was apprehended by Pinukpuk police around 12:50 p.m. on February 18 in Allangigan, where he was hiding from authorities.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear. According to his team leader, the suspect was known to be quiet and reserved. Police also noted that he is taking medication, though the type has yet to be confirmed.
