La Trinidad, Benguet – Holding the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Strawberry Shortcake, Benguet continues its tradition of spectacular strawberry cakes, as this year’s famous festival will feature a giant triplet cake sliced into 10,000 portions for festival-goers to enjoy.

Set to be unveiled on March 29, the dessert will allow residents and visitors alike to purchase slices for ₱20 each, with tickets already on sale. Final details—including the baker, ingredients, and design—are still being finalized.

Large strawberry-themed cakes have long been a highlight of the annual celebration. In previous years, creative designs were presented, including a giant twin cake in 2023, a cake shaped like a kayabang (the traditional Ibaloi basket) in 2025, as well as cupcake displays and giant strawberry shortcakes, among other designs.

First held in 1981, the Strawberry Festival was created to promote La Trinidad’s thriving strawberry farms and support local growers. Over the years, it has grown into one of Benguet’s most anticipated cultural events.

In 2004, the municipality earned the Guinness World Record for baking the world’s largest strawberry shortcake—a massive dessert that served roughly 10,000 people. Later, in 2011, the festival was formally institutionalized through a municipal ordinance recognizing its role in tourism, agricultural promotion, and local identity.

With the festival kicking off on March 5, this year’s triplet cake continues that spirit of spectacle and community sharing, turning the town’s signature fruit into a centerpiece of celebration. The festivities will run until April 1, honoring the town’s farmers and the fruit that has come to define the municipality.
