Race against time: Authorities in Kalinga save life of drowning victim

Tanudan, Kalinga – Tanudan police along with health and rescue frontliners, in their exercise of duty, saved a drowning victim at Tawang Falls in Pangol, Tanudan on Maundy Thursday, April 2.    

 

According to the Tanudan Police, the uniformed personnel along with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Municipal Health Office (MHO), and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), who were stationed at the area, quickly came to the aid of the victim who was believed to have drowned around 11:45 a.m.

 

It was Police Staff Sergeant Denver Dumagdag of the Tanudan Municipal Police Station who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the victim, with assistance from personnel of the BFP, MHO, and the MDRRMO Tanudan. After several minutes of resuscitation efforts, authorities were able to revive the victim.

 

The victim was immediately brought to the Rural Health Unit of Tanudan for further medical intervention where he is now in stable condition.

 

To ensure the safety of the public during the Holy Week, the Kalinga Provincial Police Office earlier reported that over 200 personnel were deployed in strategic locations across Kalinga, including churches and picnic sites. Additional forces from other line agencies and volunteers likewise are assisting the police in keeping a safe and peaceful observance of the lent season.

 

Netizens later praised the authorities for the quick action in saving the life of the victim.
