Natonin, Mt. Province – No one was left behind among the 10 runners of the Kalinga Running Club (KRC) who joined the Sas-alliwa Trail Run 2026 on April 25, showcasing strength, endurance, and teamwork.

As part of efforts to promote eco-tourism, the Municipality of Natonin, Mt. Province through its Tourism Office, held the first Sas-alliwa Trail Run 2026, highlighting the area’s natural attractions, including expansive rice terraces, rivers, streams, waterfalls, and rugged mountain trails.

The event featured two race categories—the 32-kilometer and 12-kilometer distances—open to both male and female runners, catering to different levels of endurance and trail running experience.

During the competition, KRC secured multiple podium finishes across both categories. In the 12-kilometer women’s division, Angelique Cantor emerged as the overall champion, while Hazel Latongan topped the 18–30 age category and placed fifth overall.

In the men’s 12-kilometer category, Cyrus Agod finished second overall, followed by Shawn Bancillo in third place. Ryan Bumosao, meanwhile, secured first place in the 31–40 age category and ranked seventh overall. Other finishers included Elmer Dangiwan and Jefferson Cadatal, who placed fifth and sixth overall, respectively.

In the 32-kilometer category, Danna Andomang and Arian Giyadan placed second and third in the women’s division, while Ronald Donaal secured second place in the men’s category.

In an interview with Guru Press, Hazel Latongan and Ryan Bumosao shared their motivations for joining the trail run, noting that it was both a test of their physical limits and a way to support Natonin’s initiative, while also enjoying the scenic routes.

“I joined this event dahil hindi ko pa nakikita ang Natonin, Mt. Province. This event is an opportunity for me to explore the hidden tourist spots and experience the challenging trail routes of Natonin,” said Latongan.

“what motivated me join was to test again my strength in this kind of sports kasi bihira na makapag training but we decided to join to support also the activity of Natonin and to showcase how Kalinga runners are strong in the kind of sport,” said Bumosao.
