Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Province of Cagayan is set to host the 6th stage of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) Tour of Luzon 2026 on May 4, showcasing its towns, communities, and cultural attractions to both local and international athletes.

With this year’s theme, “Heritage in Motion,” the MPTC Tour of Luzon is one of the country’s most prestigious multi-stage cycling competitions, featuring 20 professional and international teams competing across 14 challenging stages spanning five regions and 13 provinces.

The event began on April 29, 2026, and will run until May 13, 2026.

Stage 6 will see cyclists traversing several towns across Cagayan, including Iguig, Amulung, Alcala, Gattaran, Lal-lo, Allacapan, Ballesteros, Pamplona, Abulug, Sanchez Mira, Claveria, and Santa Praxedes—offering riders a closer view of the province’s natural landscapes and vibrant local communities along the route.

According to the Cagayan Provincial Information Office (PIO), competitors are expected to arrive in Tuguegarao City on May 3 from Santiago City, marking the conclusion of Stage 5. The cyclists will pass through the town of Enrile before heading to Tuguegarao City Hall, where the finish line will be set at noon. The awarding ceremony for the stage will also be held at the same venue.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of Cagayan will host all participants during a Governor’s Fellowship Night, led by Governor Edgar Aglipay, at the Capitol Grounds. The event will feature the city’s famous pancit batil patong and showcase locally made products from Cagayan.

Provincial Tourism Officer EnP. Junio Baquiran, through the Cagayan PIO, reminded spectators to follow road advisories and support the cyclists during the race.

“To our fellow citizens, let us support the MPTC Tour of Luzon. Let us also follow road advisories along the race route to ensure the safety of the cyclists,” Baquiran said.
