Baguio City, Philippines – A 42-year-old man has been arrested in Baguio City for threatening a minor of spreading or uploading online her naked photos if she would not have sex with him, the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit – Cordillera (RACU-Cor) reported.
Regional Director of RACU-Cor, PCOL Ma. Theresa Guinto-Pucay said the suspect and the 15-year-old victim met online in May last year. The following month, the suspect taught the victim how to have phone sex and even enticed her to send him her nude photos.
Sometime in September and December 2022, the two met and got engaged in sexual activity. The minor, however, stopped meeting with the man but the latter kept on sending messages to her since January 2023.
In September, the man whose name was withheld by authorities threatened to upload her nude photos online if she would not agree to meet him. The victim told her older brother about the situation.
The two then went to the police station to report the incident. An entrapment was initially planned on Oct. 01 but the suspect changed his mind and rescheduled their supposed meet up on Oct. 07.
The police oriented the minor before taking her to their meeting area along Kisad Road. The man noticed the presence of the cops so he asked her to walk towards BGH where he picked her up with his own vehicle.
The suspect took the minor’s phone but she was quick to send the name of the hotel where they were heading and the room number to the police, leading to the successful arrest of the suspect.
This, according to Pucay, is the third incident that was so far reported to their office.
She cautioned the parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children’s social media activities.
