Street level drug personalities caught ferrying P3M marijuana bricks in Lubuagan

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Three individuals visiting Kalinga ended up in police custody after failing to present documents for their vehicle at the Dinakan checkpoint in Dangoy, Lubuagan, on Monday.

The three individuals, two of whom are residents of Angeles City, Pampanga, while the other is from Marikina City, were on board a van when the police flagged them down at the checkpoint on January 29.

Kalinga police described that the van didn’t have a plate number and that its occupants failed to show documents for the vehicle.

Authorities further reported that, while inspecting, they noticed sacks containing suspected bricks of marijuana under the backseat of the van.

An inventory conducted showed that the contraband seized was estimated to be worth P3,000,000. Likewise, the police discovered a small sachet containing a substance believed to be shabu during the operation.

The three suspects, whose names were withheld by the police, were said to be street-level individual drug personalities. They will be answering charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Kalinga Police Director, PCol. Freddie Lazona, in a statement, appealed to the public to report any suspicious movement of vehicles within their areas, saying, “together, we can stop crimes and illegal drugs for us to have a safe community to live, work, and do business.”
