Luba, Abra - A woman died and five other passengers were injured after their vehicle fell into a rocky river in Sitio Mapait, Barangay Poblacion, Luba, Abra yesterday morning, Jan. 21.
Police reported that certain Dey-ann Del Rosario Biernes, 23 years old, a resident of Barangay Subo, Tubo, Abra was rushed to the nearest Rural Health Unit (RHU) but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The five other victims who sustained injury were Alberto Dogayan, 61, of Barangay Tiempo, Tubo; Pixie Ann Biernes, 20, a resident of Barangay Supo, Tubo, Abra; March Baltazar, 59, of Mayabo, Tubo; Joe Kanor, 48, of Mayabo, Tubo, Abra, and the driver Oliver Wilan, 39, of Tubo, Abra. The victims were all rushed to Luba RHU.
Based on the report, the mishap occurred when the driver was trying to maneuver the wheel to avoid the other vehicle coming from the opposite direction as they were traversing the Luba-Manabo Road in Barangay Poblacion.
The driver lost control of the Jeepney and missed the road. The jeepney fell into a ravine and landed on a rocky river.
The victims were rescued by the responding residents in the area and the police and were immediately brought to Luba RHU for medical aid.
